Our Trustees

Gill Wyatt Chair of Trustees

After many years of working in health and social care, mainly in the charitable sector both as a paid staff member and as a volunteer, I joined the Board of Stone Community Hub in 2022 and, few months later, took on the Chair of the Board as a temporary measure.  4 years later I’m still in that role!

In 1996 I moved from the south to Staffordshire to take up the post of the first Chief Officer of the Carers Association Southern Staffordshire (CASS), a post I held for 16 years. My experience, both in Staffordshire and previously in Surrey, is broad, and includes working with people with learning disabilities, those with physical and sensory disabilities, and those with mental ill health.  Additionally, I have worked for a voluntary sector umbrella organisation and helped establish good neighbour schemes.

Joining Stone Community Hub has allowed me to use this experience, to the best of my ability, to support The Hub and it’s aims and, in turn, has given me a great deal of satisfaction and sense of purpose. I feel it’s a privilege to be involved with The Hub and greatly value the interaction with all those I have met through my role.

I have been a Stone resident for over 20 years. Upon retiring from running a small electronics engineering company in Birmingham, for 34 years, I wanted to do something for the town that I have grown to love.

Previously I had been a volunteer helper and driver at a youth club held at a special school, Walton Hall, becoming a trustee when local authority funding was withdrawn. The group had to close due to logistical difficulties during Covid.

I joined Stone Community Hub as a member and trustee in 2023 and was then selected as Treasurer.

On moving to Stone and looking forward to retirement, I was keen to involve myself in the community, build relationships in the area and use my skills in a voluntary capacity. Drawing on my background in Human Resources (HR) I joined Stone Community Hub in 2020 at a time when the Hub were reviewing operations, post Covid, and planning for the future.

An experienced HR professional operating at Director level, my career in HR, within British Telecom, Orange/ EE, as well as the NHS and News UK, encompassed a broad range of activities from hiring to retiring employees, leading, managing and developing teams and working closely with Unions and Staff Associations to manage change programmes.

I am proud to continue to play a part in the development of the Hub and to work with the Board of Trustees to build a strong team and enhance the services provided to the people of Stone and the surrounding areas.

Cathy Jones

I joined the hub Trustees having been accosted by Gill Wyatt in the local pharmacy.

I previously spent my career in the voluntary sector,  working for Citizens Advice Bureau in Rugeley, ADSiS, delivering drug and alcohol services across the county, and ASSIST, delivering statutory advocacy in Staffordshire. I am a former chair of Stafford District Voluntary Services (now part of Support Staffordshire) and I am currently also a Trustee at VAST.

I think the Hub offers a warm and friendly atmosphere and valuable support to often overlooked local people.

Before retirement I was a chartered Valuation Surveyor working in private practice for a large multinational corporation of surveyors in Birmingham.

I live locally in a small village on the edge of the countryside and am married with two adult children.

I became a trustee several years ago.

I worked in education for most of my professional life teaching mathematics in various schools in the West Midlands and also working as a School Improvement Officer in a Local Authority.

When I retired I wanted to continue to make a contribution and so became involved with the Stone Community Hub working as a volunteer in the Food Bank. This helped me to get to know some of the clients and to see what a great asset the Hub was for the local community.

I became a Trustee in 2026.
