Our Volunteers

There are so many different ways our fabulous team of volunteers help at Stone Community Hub. This is just a quick overview and flavour of how we can help you, or how you can get involved if you’re interested in volunteering some of your time…..

Catering

Our dedicated team of Catering Volunteers are at the heart of our daily lunch service. Having completed Level 2 Food Hygiene Training, they work alongside staff to prepare and serve a freshly cooked hot meal for clients every weekday.

The team takes great care to provide meals that are nutritious, balanced, and enjoyable, while also considering individual dietary requirements, allergies, and food intolerances wherever possible. From planning and preparing meals to serving lunches and refreshments, they help ensure everyone receives a warm welcome and a positive dining experience.

More than just preparing food, our volunteers help create a friendly and supportive atmosphere where people can enjoy good food, social interaction, and a sense of community. Their commitment, enthusiasm, and care make a real difference to the lives of those who visit Stone Community Hub every day.

Our Catering Volunteers help turn a meal into an opportunity for friendship, connection, and wellbeing.

Activities

Our activity volunteers support us to run a variety of sessions, including crafts, board games, flower arranging, cookery, and seated exercise to name but a few. They also offer a friendly, supportive listening ear, helping to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

Supporting Clients

Our volunteers help create a friendly and welcoming environment where everyone feels listened to, valued, and supported. Whether sharing a chat, offering encouragement, or helping someone try a new activity, they play a vital role in building confidence, reducing isolation, and making the hub a place where people feel they belong.

Logistics

Our logistic volunteers make early morning and evening pick-ups from local suppliers who generously donate food and essential items. Their dedication helps keep our foodbank and kitchen stocked, ensuring we have food available to support the community throughout the day.

Foodbank

Our foodbank volunteers keep donations safely organised, correctly stored, and within use-by dates. They restock shelves, are mindful of allergies and dietary needs, and help clients choose healthy, nutritious food to suit their needs.

Telephone Support

Our Telephone Support Service is a new project currently being developed to support clients who are unable to attend the centre. Volunteers will make weekly calls to individuals who have been assessed as needing this support, offering companionship, a listening ear, and helping to reduce loneliness and isolation. All volunteers will receive training to help them confidently manage sensitive and difficult conversations.

Admin

Our administration volunteers provide valuable behind-the-scenes support, helping with data entry on our secure, GDPR-compliant database, answering telephone enquiries, and assisting with filing. They also help new clients’ complete initial assessments and gather feedback, comments, and suggestions, helping us continually improve and develop our services.
